about
Mongolian Cultural Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization registered in the State of New York with the purpose of introducing and educating about Mongolian Culture.
We believe that by learning about different cultures one can become richer and increase understanding of other people and it leads to cooperation. New York is a city of diverse cultures and it is a center of arts, museums, and cultural organizations. It is a perfect place to introduce Mongolian culture and arts and to make a greater New York City community. It’s a challenge to convey the beauty and complexity of Mongolia to someone who knows little about the region, so MCC is working with museums and cultural organizations to educate New Yorkers and other Americans about Mongolian culture.
Since early 1990, with the collapse of communism, Mongolia has opened its door to the world and is becoming a greater part of the world culture and arts.
Mongolia’s living nomadic cultural traditions and contemporary works are the main focus of this organization. Many Westerners associate Mongolia with the great empire of Genghis Khan and are not aware of other aspects of its cultural heritage, like the contributions of Undur Gegeen Zanabazar and the nation’s continued significance to the world today.
Mongolia also has a dynamic and young generation who were born in a democratic society, and who are truly represent the future of a new generation of Mongolian artists. They are free in expressing themselves through arts.
The MCC wants to introduce the Mongolian culture: past, present, and future that connects our Nomadic cultural heritage that survives today and the dynamic Mongolian contemporary culture as well.
